Rare Hampshire Pottery Majolica Shell Berry Bowl Set.

This  Antique Majolica Berry Bowl Set is Very Rare and Dates to Approximately 1878-1883 and was produced by the Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH  founded by James Taft in 1871.  The set consists of a master bowl and 6 individual bowls all in a shell form.  The colors are beautiful and the bowls are delicate.

The dimensions of the large bowl are approximately 10  1/4" x 10  1/2" and 4  1/2" tall.  The smaller bowls measure approximately 4  3/4" x  4  7/8" and 1  7/8" tall. 

Four of the small bowls are signed on the underside J. S. T. & Co.  The remaining bowls are not signed.  The master bowl has a 1  1/4" tight hairline and a small pinhole in the bottom inside.  All the bowls exhibit crazing which is darkened, some interior discoloration, some minor small scratches to the outside finish, and some firing pinholes. Additionally 5 of the small bowls have the following conditions.

• Bowl 1:  pinhole at interior rim.
  

• Bowl 2:  2 shallow outside rim chips 3/16" x 1/8", and a shallow fleabite interior rim chip.

• Bowl 3:  shallow fleabite at outside rim and outside 1/16" x 1/16" glaze pop.

• Bowl 4:  3 shallow interior rim chips approximately 3/16 x 3/32, and 2 tiny shallow exterior rim chips.

• Bowl 5: 2 very tiny shallow exterior rim fleabites and tiny pinhole at rim.
