Here was a Very Intriguing Historical find, a primitive blacksmithed metal mug/flagon/tankard and I wish I could include more background information in my description (Your input is welcome !!!). It stands 4.5" tall and is 5.25" from the far edge to the end of the handle. It is quite heavy (nearly 2 pounds), and although it does not appear to be pure copper, the signs of turquoise oxidation reveal at least some copper content. The handle appears to be of a different type of metal, iron perhaps, and the exposed rustiness that you see on the handle is extremely superficial. This piece is structurally strong, and with little defect aside from the dent you see on the bottom which may have been intentional so that it stands properly. This dent also shows bright copper content. There are no maker's marks, and I have no idea of origin, though it strikes me of something made in early colonial America. I obtained this in a mixed lot of numerous antique metal items of various origin.
