Wrought Iron Harpoon
Scroll Over Smaller Photos to See Larger Image Above Early Wrought Iron Description: Featured is a rare wrought iron whaling harpoon that is designed to be mounted to a polearm. It's tail piece is hollowed with two small holes to secure it. It appears to be forged from a single piece of iron, as we see no seams other than the one at it's tail where the iron comes together. We are told this dates back to the 1800's, and is considered to be a very rare find.
Dimensions: It measures 48" long. Its pointed (arrow like) head measures just over 6" along each edge. the head is a bit over 4" at widest (lowest) point.
Condition: Great natural patina indicative of it's age. It is heavy and feels structurally solid. Offered as seen in photographs.
A great nautical iron weapon, listed for 7 days with no reserve!
