Antique Japanese Nihonto Sword Geishu Ju Fuyu Hiro
This fine Japanese nihonto katana displays remarkable craftsmanship, the Master swordsmith artistry and signature (see photo) of Geishu Ju Fuyu-Hiro of the early Edo (Shinto) period (1603 – 1868 CE), second son of Jakushu Fuyu-Hiro, from the area around Hiroshima. Made circa mid 1600s. This authentic signature has been fully vetted by a number of experts including Frederick Weissberg and Edward Kawanabe. Dimensions: Nagasa: 26.500”, Nakago: 8.875”, Mihaba at Ha-machi: 1.188”, Sakihaba: .875”, Kisane at Ha-machi: .250”, Kisane at Kissaki: .188”, Sori: .750”. Forging Pattern: Itame (wood grain). Tempering Pattern: Toran-midare (waves). Later 20th Century WWII provided Tsuka, Tsuba, Ito, Fuchi, Kaboto-gane and Saya; typically and correctly adorned special longtime old family blades (in this case 300 years old) at the time, for bringing and celebrating old past culture and tradition into the Military mission of the day in the 1930s.
