Antique Kenngott Paris 210mm Medio Anastigmat Lens F7.7
You are bidding on an Antique Kenngott Paris 210mm Medio Anastigmat Lens F7.7
[590]
This gorgeous late 19th Century lens is in superb, Excellent+ condition. The glass of this cemented doublet optic is perfect, with no flaws, marks or scratches. Some very slight balsam crystallization is visible at the periphery of the glass, but this is of no consequence to the lens at any aperture. When I first acquired this lens, I thought it might be a copy of a Goerz Dagor. This was based on some information from the Vade Mecum, which referred to this version as having the classic double anastigmat design. When I look carefully at the glass, it appears to more resemble a cemented doublet like the F12.5 Zeiss Protar IV or the Wollensak Ex. W.A. wide angle lenses. The lens does cover well, and should cover 8x10 when stopped down.
This is quite a rare find, French glass in one of the most beautiful shutters ever made, a Koilos pneumatic. The shutter is actually firing very well, although the slow speeds rush by about a stop. I'm sure that a simple lube would bring this shutter to great working order. Cosmetics on both the shutter and lens are EX+, with very minimal signs of age and use. Lens comes in a beautiful lacquered brass flange assembly (I'm not sure which wooden view camera this came with, but it would have been quite nice, perhaps a Sanderson Tropical or even an older dry plate camera). Ideal for your vintage or antique 4x5, 5x7 or 8x10 view camera by Deardorff, Wista or Zone VI. A beautiful find.
