Offered for auction is a small antique woven rush(?) round lidded sewing basket from around the late 1800's to early 1900's. This little basket was found in a victorian era trunk that was stashed in the attic of a rural western PA dairly farm. This trunk was filled with mid to late 1800's to early 1900's artifacts - including dated papers.
This basket is 2 pieces, the base and the lid. They are not attached and it does not look like they ever were. They are 9" in diameter and about 3" tall with the lid in place. There is a dark brown domed-topped button on the lid and the basket is unlined.
This basket is in very good condition for its age. It has been used and there are a few areas where a a few strands of the woven rush(?) has come loose - this is in one area on the bottom edge of the lid. The base is in excellent condition and there are NO damaged areas - the rush is all tight and uniform in color - dark brown. The photos are of the side view, top, outside, bottom, inside and of the damaged area. View My Other Items For Sale - I combine shipping at actual cost.
