Antique Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk Turn of the Century

Awesome piece of history and Louis Vuitton - no less.

This great old trunk has been stored in an attic for many years.  The owner is moving to warmer climates and is letting go of some of their wonderful items.

This great find has been hidden in the corner of the attic for many years and is finally seeing the light of day.

It is "as found".  All the hardware is stamped "LV or Louis Vuitton"  We have tried to take close up pics of all the parts of the trunk. If you need more please let us know and we will be happy to accomodate.

The piece does show wear - according to the sticker it has been to Italy, Panama, New York City, and Buffalo.  Among other places that were probably reflected in the sticker that are no longer legible.

There is a lady's name on one of the stickers and it may be a fun project to find out a little more about her.

The serial number is stamped on the inside- it is light- but you can make it out.

This particular trunk does have the upgraded feature of the built in wheels.  They all turn and seem to be in good order.

The dimentions are 30 X 22 X 20.

There are two strapped net inserts.  The strapping is marked Louis Vuitton as well. The small piece that sits on the top is in good condition while the larger piece that is the size of the chest does seem to have a bend in it where there may be a piece of wood broken inside or just bowed (can't tell which is the case). 

The piece is still solid and in good overall condition.

Would make an interesting display piece.
