You are bidding on an Early 1900s Tool for Stripping Bark from Trees that was used in the Logging Camps in Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. This is an Old Barking Iron or Spud used by the Lumberjacks. It measures 27" long. There is a 15" Cast Iron Hooked Blade attached to a 12" Oak Handle that is similar to the end of a baseball bat. The initials F.C.G. are impressed into the iron and wood about a dozen times. I believe these are the initials of the Logging Company that owned the tool. 100% Original and in Very Good Condition-the metal has some marks from age or casting but considering how rough this was used it's a wonder that it survived at all. It looks like the tool they eviscerated William Wallace with in Braveheart. Buyer to pay actual shipping from 54304--NO handling fees. PAYMENT OPTIONS-----MO preferred or checks OK with decent feedback. Check my auctions for more treasure. Good Luck!
