This auction is for an Antique Meriden Britannia Meriden B Silver Plate Sweet Meat Container or Box.
This has a great Crested Parrot or Cockatoo Cockatiel type Bird Finial on the top.
It measures:
5 3/4" high.
It is 4 3/4" in diameter.
This Antique, 118 year old Sweet Meat Box is in decent condition for it's age with a few small issues.
There are no dents, dings or mono.
The Top of the lid is beautifully decorated with Birds, Ferns and Garlands of Flowers.
The Bottom Band of the Box is decorated with Pillars, Beading, Floral Garlands, Ferns and Birds.
The Bird Finial has an old time re-attchment repair and nicely done.
There is wear to the Silver Plating.
Something was attached to the bottom rim, many years ago.
It does not affect the way it sits.
Sits nice and straight with no wobbles.
The Lid hinge is fine with no repair.
This has an old Gold finish to the inside.
This is a nice Antique Silver Plate Meriden B. piece with historical value.
The Bird has a bit of silver polish in it's beak.

This is fresh out of a local Meriden, Ct. Estate and new to eBay.
This is polished beautifully. I polish all of my Silver Plate and Sterling, before I list it on eBay. Tarnish can hide alot of flaws. LETS ALL READ THE "SMALL PRINT", EVEN THOUGH WE DON'T LIKE TO. I know everyone likes to look at the nice pictures and scan through the details, but ignoring the small print has led to problems.
Once you win an auction, congratulate yourself warmly, jump up and down and scream happily.
Then wait for your invoice.
It will be sent within 24 hours.
Questions asked about items in the last few hours of an auction are unlikely to be seen or answered, so ask early.
I will try to combine shipping, if possible.
Once again, USPS has increased their Shipping and Insurance rates as of May 12th, 2008.
I try my best to offer the cheapest method of shipping.
First Class and Parcel Mail are less costly, but packages shipped First Class and Parcel do take a few days longer to arrive, than Priority Mail.
Please keep this in mind.
I still do not charge a handling fee.
