Antique Majolica Art Pottery Chicken Faience Old Egg


This is an antique item over 100+ years old.

Late 1800's figural smoke set produced by the famous Bernhard Bloch factory at Eichwald, Austria. This large set shows a Chicken dressed in Clothes with a wooden box and an egg shell on a grass covered surface. Cigars would have been placed in the central box, matches in the basket, and spent matches would have been placed in the oval egg. A match striker could likely be the front basket design impressed into the clay. Overall dimensions are 7" high, 7 1/4" wide, and 5 1/4" deep. The piece is marked on the bottom with the impressed "BB" mark along with the numbers 2367.

The piece has some damage. There are chips, the handle on the basket the chicken is carrying is broken and missing and there are other signs of wear and loss. I've shown photos from all angles.
