Offered for your consideration is an Antique Manger Nativity Creché Set Signed Germany

Wonderful, very early manger, nativity, crèche set.

Possibly late 1800 to about 1920. (could be older or a little later than that)

I purchased this many years ago at an estate sale.

Baby Jesus has a wooden bed, there are 2 palm trees (the trunk comes out of a hole in the base for ease of storage and the palms are on wire and are moveable), a water well, a cook stove, wise men, shepards all that you see pictured are included.

I believe these are made of plaster, paper maché composition of some kind and have painted surfaces.

The camel, donkey have wooden legs and have a slight flocking to the body.

One of the sheep also has wooden legs

20 pieces including wood piece where baby Jesus lays.

Some of the pieces have bumps and dings.

I have displayed this set at Christmas just as it is for many years.

The damage never bothered me because it is such an old set but it could bother someone else so I took lots of photos.

The steer has a missing horn, the donkey has a missing ear and 2 of the wise men have a cracks (looks like an old repair—not by me), one of the sheep tenders is missing his staff and other dings, bumps, bruises as seen in the photos.

Most pieces are marked simply Germany on the base. (some marks are faded)

To give you an idea of size and scale one of the palm trees measures approx 9 inches tall.
