We are selling this soda fountain for another party. This item is located in Canby, Minnesota and will remain there for pick up by the winning bidder (the fountain can be taken apart for easier moving). If you have questions and wish to call the owner of this fountain, please e-mail me for his phone number. This soda fountain was made in the mid to latter part of the 1800's and is made of at least 8 different types of marble and also has an ornate carbide lamp attached to it. The fountain meas. about 33 1/2" wide by a little over 4 ft. tall to its tallest part by 26" from the back end of unit to the front end of the spigots. The center decorative piece on the top portion has damage (see photos) and we temporarily attached the tan middle centerpeice to the tan top piece with a wire so that you can see where it originally was attached. Both of those tan centerpieces have been broken and reglued at one time. Not sure how the middle tan centerpiece was originally attached to the unit. Both the marble sides and the body of the fountain are in really nice shape for its age (but see photos where I point out the worst damage). The top gray back marble slab behind the temporarily attached tan marble centerpiece must have had a mirror or some sort of decorative peice covering the gray slab of marble but it's no longer with the unit. There are a few chips and cracks here or there on the fountain body but overall this is a tremendous and quality made fountain. There are 10 spigots and each are named. They are in this order from left to right on the fountain: SARSAPAR, CHOCOLATE, PINEAPPLE, STRAWBERRY, LEMON, NECTAR, COFFEE, RASPBERRY, ORANGE, VANILLA. Holding the whole unit together there are 10 (visable) original brass screws plus 6 more (visable) screws which replaced 6 brass screws. The 2 hinges on the lid are brass, the 2 OTTO ZWIETUSCH emblem plaques (1 on each side of the fountain) are brass and there are 2 small brass plaques on the front of the fountain (one is marked GINGERALE and the other is SELTERS.) The 10 spigots are nickle plated over brass (I think they might be brass). The insides of this fountain are long gone. The whole soda fountain sits on top of a marble floor which meas. about 3 FT. by 26". Also included in this auction is a letter to the owner dated 1967 from the Historical Society of Milwaukee which gives details about this fountain, the maker etc. It says the maker was Otto Zwietusch and he had a soda fountain factory from 1858 to his death in 1903. This letter is framed and in good shape. You also get the original gauges and seltzer holding board (see in photos). A great looking old and original rare soda fountain ready to be refurbished. We do our very best to describe and picture item and because we don't know everything about anything you are buying as is.
