Item up for bids is a sweet & very rare early 1900's XAC leather football helmet. This is a very well built high quality helmet. The leather is in fantastic condition. Soft and supple but still strong as can be. It still has that antique leather smell we all know and love! The rich mahogany brown patina is 100% original. No dyes or coloring were used at all. It is very rare to find a football helmet from the early 1900's in this great of condition! The XAC makers logo is stamped into the leather in the center of the forehead protection strap and it is mint (see closeup). The model No. 50 is stamped above the logo. The size is not marked but we would guess it to be a large adult size 7 1/2 to 7 5/8. The original wool interior is all there and in awesome condition. Even the U shaped wool ear protector pads and the leather forehead strap is in great condition. This is rare because these are the two spots where you expect to see the most wear. The inner cloth connector straps are original and in great shape. There are a few gridiron scuffs here or there and two spots where someone wrote their name on it but overall condition is excellent. There is no real damaging even worth mentioning. This gridiron relic would look awesome displayed in your office, sports room, etc. As always, wood display holder comes with the helmet.
