Up for auction is an authentic National Prohibition Whiskey Prescription. This was printed by Treasury Department U.S. Internal Revenue and is a Prescription Blank by the National Prohibiton Act as printed at top of Rx. When you hold this up to the light (pic #3) you can see "INDUSTRIAL ALCOHOL" printed, watermarked in the paper, and the Treasury Seal in Latin in the center. ....
The Medicinal prescription is written for 16 oz. Spiritus Frumenti, which is the U.S. Latin Pharmaceutical term for WHISKEY, and directions are 1 TEASPOONFUL 3 TIMES A DAY...
This was a way of getting whiskey, liquor, during the prohibition days by having your Doctor prescribe it for medicinal purposes (Dr. John Elliott)....
The Rx is dated May 24, 1932 and written for James Wschirrch ??, 3827 Maypoll, Chicago, Illinois... The Rx measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/2", and is in beautiful shape, and has Bureau of Industrial Alcohol, Treasury Dept., instructions on back side ...
