Antique 1932 Forest Park Pharmacy PROHIBITION PRESCRIPTION FOR 1 Pint of WHISKEY, for a WOMAN..
Up for auction is an Original Prescription form for Medicinal Liquor. This is the Original white copy that should have been sent to the federal government, and pink duplicate copy was retained by the pharmacy...This was printed by Treasury Department U.S. Internal Revenue and is a Prescription Blank by the National Prohibiton Act as printed at bottom of Rx. When you hold this up to the light (pic #3) you can see "PROHIBITION" printed, watermarked in the paper, and the Treasury Seal in Latin in the center. .... The prescription is written for 1 Pint of SPTS. FRUMENTI, which is the U.S. Latin Pharmaceutical term for WHISKEY, and directions are TABLESPOONFUL EVERY 3 HRS. (in Pharmaceutical longo)... This was a way of getting whiskey, liquor, during the prohibition days by having your Doctor prescribe it for medicinal purposes....
The Rx was prescribed on March 14, 1932 and cancelled on March 16, 1932, and it's written for Marie Grott, 731 A So. Weastead ??, St. Louis, Mo... It was filled at Forest Park Pharmacy on 45 No. Euclid, St. Louis, Missouri ....
The Rx measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" and in nice shape...
