Antique Piano Sewing Box Sterling Silver Tools C1830

This gorgeous piano shaped sewing box is fully outfitted with beautiful figural tools and the original Spitalfield silk cushion. The ivory keyboard lifts out for storage underneath. There is also a drawer underneath the keyboard. The box is in excellent condition with just a tiny area on each side where the veneer has started to lift. This is easily repairable by someone with the expertise. Also, there is some age cracking to the ivory keys as can be seen in the pictures. On the inside, the mirror, chenille and silk cushion are all present and in excellent condition. The tool tray lifts out to expose a storage area underneath.

The tools to this box are gorgeous beyond description. The silver tools are in fabulous condition. The stiletto, needlecase and scissors have figural ladies heads. They are hallmarked, but they are so small I cannot make them out. (I think I need to buy a jeweler's loop!) The tiny scissors are also present, which is rare in these boxes. These scissors are in excellent condition with no damage. The original perfume bottle is also present and undamaged. It is complete with the original glass stopper and silver lid. The two small mother of pearl winders are present, but do have some damage as can be seen in the pictures. There is a thimble in the box, and it fits perfectly, but I'm not sure it is original to the box. I think this box may have originally come with a fancier thimble.
