Antique Heavy Two Piece Waffle Iron
Estate sale find, I found this out in the garage. I am guessing that it is a waffle iron, but maybe with the smaller size and the different waffle pattern it is for making some kind of cookies? Not sure.
Made of solid iron, there are two pieces. There is the waffle part which opens and closes and is made on the outside of two round iron circles with a hinge for opening and closing. It says "7.8" on the top and bottom, so maybe that is the size? This piece then sits on a little round platform that has cut outs to fit the back hinges of the waffle iron and two side cut outs that the iron rests on. The bottom is open and there is a frying pan type handle. It looks like this piece would sit over the burner to cook the waffles, cookies, etc. It fits together nicely, the only problem is that because there are openings in the front and back of the platform, the inside piece will tip forward a little if you push on that end.
That's about all I can figure out. Not sure if this is the entire piece or not, but it is a cute little antique cooking piece. The waffle patterns are not the typical squares, but rather diamond, heart, club, and square shapes. Again, maybe for making cookies?
Measures almost 14" long, about 9" wide and 2" tall. Just the thing for your country kitchen, decor.
Thanks for looking, please email with any questions.
The items that I sell are primitives/antiques/vintage items that I find and would buy for myself. I try to describe each item as well as I can but I am not an expert. I sell on ebay for fun and enjoy the people I meet here. I do not leave negative feedback and hope that if you are not happy with an item that we can work out any problems. It's not life and death - that's what I do in my 9-5 job. This should be fun.
