Antique Print-HARLOTS PROGRESS-DOCTORS-Hogarth-1820

Description: We estimate this to be an earlier edition print by Riepenhausen, c. 1820.

Artists and Engravers: The engraver is Ernst Ludwig Riepenhausen (1765-1840) after William Hogarth (1697-1764). The German engraver Riepenhausen was well respected for his engravings after Hogarth, often preferred to those by Hogarth himself.

Subject: Plate 5 of 'Harlots Progress': The patient's protection from the drug drug expires, while the doctors are disputing. The group of the two quack doctors with the passed away as eloquent example of their high capacities.

Condition: Fine. General age related toning and occasional light staining and folding. Carefully study our detailed scan.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 29 x 23 cm. The image size is ca. 21.5 x 17 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 11.4 x 9.1 inch. The image size is ca. 8.5 x 6.7 inch.

Medium: Copperplate engraving and etching on a thick vellin type paper.
