Antique Rothschild Bros brass match-holder & ashtray

Very beautiful early 1900s ornate bronze or brass matchbox holder and ashtray, in excellent condition.

Heavy gauge solid bronze-colored metal. Four rest ashtray supporting a matchbox holder (and block to hold the box open) on a short pedestal. Each of the two faces of the holder are relief decorated with rococo scrolls, flowers and a cherub mask at the top.

Marks: Molded lettering on the underside of the base reads: Rothschild Bros, Ithica. N.Y. in a circle.

Date: First quarter 20th century.

Condition: Excellent condition with a beautiful patina of old bronze. No dings, dents, splits, corrosion or repairs.

Size: Ashtray is just short of 5 inches tall and 5.4 inches across the base. Weighs a satisfactory 1 lb 8 oz.
