Antique STAFFORDSHIRE Historical WELL & Tree PLATTER
Antique Staffordshire transfer historical well and tree platter "Compton Verney" Blue, l8-3/4" x 14-5/8". Henshall & Co., 1790-1828. This pattern can be seen in Coysh & Henrywood's Dictionary of blue and white printed pottery, although it is mislabeled "British Views" Volume II, p. 86, notates this error. This scene is in the "Fruit and Flower Border Series". This piece is in emaculent shape with no chips or cracks noted. On the foot edge there are a couple of very tiny glaze flakes, but you must look extremely hard to find it and this is not considered a chip. This is a wonderfully rare and very hard to find piece in this condition, and would be the jewel of any antique staffordshire historical transferware collection.
