This is a Fantastic Large & Heavy Antique Silver Plated  EPBM (Electro Plated Britannia Metal) Pump Action Victorian Teapot.  It is of a vase shape with a circular pedestal base and has a half reeded pattern to the body and segmented reeded pattern to the domed part of the pump action lid.  It also has a beaded decoration around the the top rim, the shoulder of the body, in the question mark shaped handle and a band around the base.  It has a lovely embossed leaf decoration on the top and base of the handle and an embossed flower decoration at the base of the curved downward spout.  It has a simulated brown wooden finial.

My research shows that this patent was established by Royle’s Ltd which was a firm of Victorian steam engineers in Manchester and this “Self-Pouring Teapot" was produced both in silver plate and Doulton as a promotional item for the company. Its fascinating design and ingenious pouring mechanism would have been a significant promotional tool for this engineering company. This makes it even more collectable and desirable.

Identifying Marks: The base is stamped "AR" a trumpet "Royles Patent Self Pouring  Manufactured by James Dixon & Sons Sheffield Ld For J.J Royle Manchester EPBM  113"

Dimensions:    10 inches long from spout to handle, the actual body is 6 inches long, 6 inches wide at its widest pointss and it is 10.5 inches tall.  It weighs an impressive 1496g.  Overseas bidders please note that postage will be high due to the weight so please see the postage price for your particular country

Condition:     It is in very good condition apart from one very small dent on the shoulder and some light surface scratching which is only to be expected on a metal item and is commensurate with age and use

Remarks:     This really is a great silver plated Victorian 123 year old self pouring teapot and a great collectors item, although it would look impressive in any home and when not in use (which it would certainly be a talking point when it was) would make a lovely display item
