  Good day; for your consideration is this fabulous circa 1800 architect's portable drafting table. This fine example of early American craftsmanship has been in my family for over one hundred years, completely ignored and neglected. It was purchased by my great grandfather Earl Rich from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad depot in Glidden Iowa. It was left at the depot by the engineering crew that laid the tracks from Boone to Glidden ( sometime in the 1850-60), when it was no longer needed by the depot master, Earl bought it in the late 1800s or very early 1900s. It has a few age splits, and is missing what I am assuming by the six holes in the top, a removable cabinet or shelf, but very sturdy and serviceable.  At one time many years ago my mother made an attempt to strip the base, but only managed to rough up the bottom part of the legs, gave up and painted it, ( the base ). It is all original other than that,  I have given it a couple of coats with a high quality wood oil, and re-glued a few of the glue blocks. I believe it was originally stained brown and than painted black. The approx. dimensions of this piece are 60" wide 36" deep 32" high at the front and 35" high in the back.This item is for local pick-up only. However if you would like to make arrangements at the Fort Dodge, Iowa UPS Pak Store for packing and shipping, I will deliver this wonderful piece of Americana to them, I will also consider other arrangements.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.  ....More pictures below....
