An unusual old table top knotted/woven carpet loom. Probably a tourist piece for display but is definitely old. The weaving loom was probably sold with the small sample 'carpet' worked ( it is 22 by 15.5cm). The wools used - balls at the top- are natural dye colours and quite hard as would suit a carpet. Maybe it is a salesmans or shop display piece?
This stands on an 18 by 30 cm base and is 35 cm tall. There is a 'shelf' at the front and the frame leans back a little bit. There is a turned support on either side at the back. There is a spring at the right. The wrap does not wind on so it ust be purely decorative. The wood has a crude reddish scumbled finish and is a bit rough is construction but very solid. Look at the pictures for more detail.
This is a nice decorative item and will display beautifully. It needs a vacuum to get any dust out of the 'rug' and warp threads. The rubber band has gone on my vac & I am waiting for a replacement.
Surface shipping is a good option and includes basic insurance free, as does airmail. Should bidding go above £35 International Sign for will be required. Standard Parcels already includes additional insurance to £100.
