Antique Staffordshire Blue Transferware
Plate
Garden Scenery
This auction is for a lovely, blue transferware plate measuring 9.50
inches in diameter.
The pattern name is "Garden Scenery" and the manufacturer is T.J.
& J. Mayer? circa 1843-1855.
It features a Romantic, central vignette portraying a family and a
dog strolling beside a winding waterway, with a rustic gazebo, a castle-like
structure, tall trees and distant mountains completing the scene.
The rim is both gently scalloped and deeply paneled, and the border
design is comprised of delicate blossoms set against a busy motif resembling
seaweed, or coral.
The reverse is clearly marked with the pattern name, that of the
maker and "Longport".
The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, hairlines or
discoloration. There is general, faint, colorless crazing present as well as the
usual three firing stilt marks to each side. The transfer is crisp and the glaze
remains glossy with only a few light use marks visible on the face.
Overall, this fine example of antique transferware displays perfectly
and would surely be an asset to any collection of antique Staffordshire china.

General Policy Statement
We make every attempt to provide accurate descriptions and quality photographs. Our descriptions are intended to provide a combination of obvious facts and personal opinions. Descriptive terms employed are often very personal or subjective in nature and may or may not be compatible with your assessment, e.g. mint, excellent, and very good, etc. We are not responsible for variations in actual color due to the inherent variances caused by lighting conditions and digital media differences caused by cameras, editing programs, or computer display monitor settings. We deal primarily with vintage pottery, china and glass, and given the somewhat unsophisticated methods of manufacture of these items in the past, production flaws are to be anticipated, and indeed impart individuality to each piece. Flaws such as pitting, adhering kiln debris, stilt marks, glaze runs, misplaced transfers and smudges are common to china and pottery. Straw marks are to be expected in early glassware. All of the above are acceptable characteristics of antique wares and we do not attempt to identify each and every one. It is the responsibility of the buyer to review the information provided prior to making a bid. Should the buyer have any doubts, apprehensions, or concerns regarding factors such as age, authenticity, origin, color, condition, or flaws they are urged to contact us well in advance of the close of auction or please refrain from placing a bid. Buyers who "snipe" bids very close to the end of auction are still required to complete the terms of the auction. In accordance with eBay guidelines your bid is a valid contract to purchase.
Return Policy
Our standard policy is that we do not accept return items. Should the buyer desire to return an item email notification must be received by us within 48 hours of item receipt. Returns will be at our discretion. The item must be returned in original as shipped condition. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Reimbursement will be for the original selling price only, excluding any original shipping and insurance fees. Any and all approved return items must be received by us within ten (10) calendar days of your initial receipt of the item.
Payment Policy
All auction payments are to be received within 10 days of the close of auction. Extenuating circumstances for payment delays will be considered on an individual basis provided you contact us within 3 days of auction closing. Failure to remit payment as expected or agreed upon will result in the filing of an "Unpaid Item Dispute" in accordance with eBay guidelines and possible negative feedback.
Shipping and Insurance Policy
Our primary method of shipment is United States Postal System Priority Mail for all destinations within the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. Shipments to other world wide destinations will normally be United States Postal System Priority Mail International. These two options have proven to be the most reliable and cost effective methods. Insurance is required on all purchases.
Attention International Buyers: Please contact us prior to sending funds so we can choose the best method of shipment and properly calculate appropriate fees.
