Antique Sterling Sewing Chatelaine w/ Tools

5 Chains * English * Hallmarked 1888

This wonderful and complete sterling silver chatelaine has five filigree chains with tools. The plaque features a Roman soldier and coins above a beautifully pierced and studded shield. The plaque and belt clip have the English sterling hallmarks for Birmingham 1888 and the maker's mark for Louis Blumfeld. It's in excellent condition with a strong hinged clip and no damage to the silver.

Attached to the chains are 5 silver tools (all English). There's a sterling scissors sheath (hallmarked 1888) with sterling handled scissors (tested but not marked), a sterling thimble case and sterling thimble (both hallmarked 1888), a sterling tape measure (hallmarked 1888), a sterling folding button hook/penknife (hallmarked 1890) and a silver pin disc/cushion in the form of a book (no marks). Each of the filigree links on the chain has the lion silver hallmark.

All of the silver is in excellent condition with no dents or damage. The thimble is in mint condition, in round with no holes or even wear. It has the makers mark for John Troup & Sons and is about an American size 7. The tape measure has an unmarked silk tape. The thimble bucket, scissors sheath and pindisc all have their original dk blue velvet lining. The waist plaque measures 2 5/8" wide and the chatelaine is 11 3/8" long from top to bottom.  Postage includes registered shipping outside of the US.
