Antique Sterling Silver Spoon Chicago Illinois Lincoln

This wonderfully detailed antique sterling silver spoon is marked “Sterling” on the back along with the Mechanics Sterling Company hallmark (triangular flag with an “H” inside). The spoon weighs 10.1g.

The bowl of the spoon says “City Hall” and has an engraved, detailed depiction of that large building. The handle starts at the top with:

“Chicago” in a banner, underneath which are a series of symbols along with a Latin phrase;

Beneath that is “Public Library” with a depiction of the building;

Beneath that is “Lincoln Statue” with a depiction of the statue;

Beneath that is “Water Tower” with a depiction of that which runs all the way to the bowl.

The back of the spoon is also filled with depictions:

At the top of the spoon handle back is “Government and Post Office Bld’g” with a raised depiction of the building;

Beneath that is “Fort Dearborn” with a depiction of the fort;

Following that is “Douglas Monument” with a long depiction of the monument that runs the length of the rest of the handle.

The spoon is in excellent condition and measures 4 inches long.
