This is a very nice antique sterling silver spoon marked “Sterling” on the back along with the Mechanics Sterling Company hallmark (a triangular flag with the letter “H” inside it). The spoon weighs 7.2g.

 

Inside the bowl of the spoon is a wonderfully detailed image (raised and engraved) of Washington’s Home – it states this above the house and below the house, in the grass area is “Mt. Vernon, Va.” (The spoon bowl is shaped normally - it just appears a little different in the closeup because of the angle of the photo.)

 

“Washington” appears in raised letters along the front of the handle, and at the top is a relief image of George Washington’s face.

 

The spoon is in excellent condition (I haven’t removed all the tarnish) and measures a little under 4 inches in length.
