Here, the table is shown with the leaves down. The mahogany contrasts beautifully with the oak. These bobbin turned legs are as sturdy as they are elegant.
     This large gate leg table was recently hand crafted from solid oak, in England, by a master craftsman. From the materials to the production values, every aspect of this table is of the highest quality. The oak has a rich, dark tone and a very pronounced, well-developed grain. The tabletop is bordered by an inlaid banding of brilliantly colored light mahogany. The light mahogany and dark oak compliment each other very well through their contrast. This contrast also helps the table make a bold visual statement in any setting. Two leaves pull up from each side and are supported by legs which swing out. This is called a "gate leg" style base and has been very popular in English tables dating all the way back to the 1800's. The legs are bobbin turned for an elegant, yet not overly ornate look. They are also joined by stretchers for added stability. The finish is a hand rubbed wax finish, which is very durable for everday use, and easy to keep looking great.
