Authentic Victorian Ladies' Black Waist

Long sleeved Victorian bodice has lace trim around sleeves, bottom edge and along the curved black side-front sections that flap over the front section. 

The front is layered with a black cotton base, then white silk on top of that and over that is a sheer black net with bouquet design embroidery. The white silk in between has completely separated into long strands as the garment has aged.  Long set-in sleeves have poufy sections above the lace-trimmed, scalloped bands. Covered stays or boning radiate in the front and back from the waistline. The rather elaborate hooks and eyes closings are underneath in the mid-front, across the left shoulder, down the front of the armhole, and then down the side with the curved section lapping over and snapping in place.

The lace trim is a floral design with sheer petals. The outer fabric feels like silk but I am not sure what the actual material is.

Probably an Extra Small or XXS  in today’s sizes. Please note this garment is especially small across the back shoulders.*

 Condition 

Very good vintage condition with a few minor flaws:  As mentioned above the white silk in between the base and the lace overlay is in strands; there are small tears on each of the undersides of the sleeve poufs; one of the hooks and eyes has come loose; there's an old repair to the net lace at the center neck.  No notable stains or fading.
