Lusters are mantle and table decorations, or pedestal vases. Lusters have hanging glass prisms. Those with one row of prisms are more common, while the double hung prisms are rarer and usually more costly. These were always expensive and were usually found in only the more prominent homes. This is still true today, with some of the more affluent homes owning several pair.
Antique, Victorian Pair of Large Pink Milk Glass Lustres
12 prisms each in two rows, each Lustre over 13" High
OFFERED FOR SALE: Priced as a Pair. Circa last half of the ninteenth century, this pair of heavy milk glass Lustres cased in pink is approximately 13 1/2 inches high each and 5 3/4 inches across. The pair is decorated with small enameled flowerheads and tourquoise prunts. There are 12 prisms in a double row on each Lustre. These two have closed bottoms and scalloped top rims. One Lustre has an approximate 1/2 inch chip which has been glued back and a slight crack which has been glued from the back to stop any further damage (see photo). Glue job on the inside is not neat but it did stop the crack (see photo). Price adjusted for damage.
