Antique Victorian Redwork Linen Collar Shawl for Haircuts

Welcome to Robins in the Trundle Bed, brimming with antiques, whimsies, and fripperies that we have gathered in treasure hunts over the New England  We are pleased to offer this beautiful redwork fringed collar.  These shawl covers were popular in the Victorian and Edwardian eras and were used by women to cover their shoulders during a haircut.  This cover is lovely and is made from an off white damask material. The piece is edged in a darling red and white ruffled material and closes at the front with ribbons at the top of the neck.  The bottom of the piece is edged in a turkey red Asian inspired material and is surrounded by drawnwork.  The bottom of the piece has a four inch fringe.  The interior front has a small sewn in cloth label that is stamped “B291”. countryside.

Condition and size: 

The cover is in excellent antique condition.  The fringe needs straightening and there is some fraying to the ends of the fringe.  The piece has not been laundered.

It measures 15” in length, plus a 4” fringe. The back, measured from shoulder to shoulder (laid flat) measures 16.5”.

We are happy to combine shipping if you win multiple items and will contact you after the auction has ended with combined shipping costs.  We strongly suggest that you purchase insurance. We will ship internationally.  If you are the winning bidder and not a US resident, please e-mail us for shipping costs at the close of the auction.   International auction winners, please do not pay until you receive exact shipping costs from us (not the first email from Ebay as the calculator will not figure exact international shipping.). International buyers, please know that we ship the best and quickest way possible and when possible we will offer you two shipping options.
