All of my quilts come from East Texas, which is where I'm from. Occasionally I might list one from somewhere else, which I will state. I find them at estate sales, auctions, flea markets, and sometimes just from friends. They are all hand quilted authentically in the United States, unless otherwise stated. I grew up watching my granny and other ladies quilt at home and at church, and using these types of quilts and I love them. By "vintage" I mean that they are several decades old at least. Most are pre 1950s. Whenever possible I will let you know when they were made. I do my best to describe my quilts accurately. However, by their nature, these vintage quilts have been used in most cases. Sometimes I may miss a loose seam or otherwise minor flaw.
This is a 1940's 16 patch quilt, 16 patch blocks are sashed in bright red which really makes the quilt stand out, many feedsack prints and some dress cottons. The back is muslin, back has 2 double matchhead size and 1 about quarter size tears, front has 2 small tears on the red sashing near an edge and 4 small split seams. The old cotton batting has shifted some in a few small places. Front and back have some spots and stains, most would probably come out with a good soaking.
The 16 patch blocks are hand pieced and then sewn together with the sashing by machine. It is hand quilted in the elbow quilting pattern. A great addition to your vintage quilt collection.
