This auction is for an original antique or vintage 1949 Philco tube radio model 49-900.
It measures about 12" wide X 7 3/4" tall X 6 1/2" deep.

The Cabinet:
The cabinet is a beautiful chocolate colored bakelite/plastic with an almost mirror like quality displaying no cracks or breaks.The bottom has some wear and scratching on it which is typical of a radio that has been shifted around on a shelf or tabletop repeatedly throughout its life. Please see photos below.
The Knobs and Dial Face:
The knobs are 100% original to the set and both turn smoothly and operate as they should. The dial lense is plastic with no cracks or breaks but does show signs of flaking and fading on the under side, please see photos for more detail.
The Chassis:
The chassis is all original, clean, and exhibiting no major rust but could still use a light dusting. The original Philco Transitone antenna was too far gone to save, the old traces of its adhesive is still there around the inside of the cabinet. I attached a simple long wire antenna on it to test the performance. While the chassis still contains all of its original components and has not been serviced, it still works and I am able to pick up several local Detroit stations with an audible hum in the background on all stations, this can be remedied by re-capping the set and that is up to the winning bidder. Due to the chassis being original and un-serviced coupled with its antique electrical nature, it is being sold as-is described and pictured wih no refunds.
This would make a wonderful addition to any radio enthusiasts collection or a great conversation starter in any home or office.
