I believe this antique piece of fabric is from the 1920's or a little later, and the cut-out fabric children are about the same time period. The cut-outs are a heavier cotton and are probably linen. The piece of fabric with the fairytale print measures about 48" x 34". It has never been washed and has stiff feel to it. It does have foxing and a couple of stains. Also it has that antique fabric smell, that to me, is not offensive and lets you know that it is very old. Of course it will need be washed if you plan on using it for quilting or other items you will be using around your home. The fairytale print is wonderful with Mother Goose, Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory Dock, Little Red Riding Hood, Little MIss Muffet, the dish running away with the spoon, and more.
The cut out children would be great for appliques on quilts for a baby or antqiue and vintage dolls. The heavy linen type fabric has not been washed and the edges are only slightly raveled. Some of the children are connected and some of them and their dogs are separate. The clothing and hairstyles a definitely 1920's or very early 1930's. Most of them measure about 5 inches high.
Hope someone can use these wonderful pieces for children or dolls, as I will never have the time for all my projects! Please feel free to ask questions if you need further information. And please do take a look at my other auctions for vintage linens, and doll items. I will be glad to combine your purchases to give you the best rate possible on shipping.
THANKS !!!!
