This ART DECO Aquamarine filigree ring is magnificent!

The intense, translucent VIVID color is rich and even throughout. Indicative of the high quality pieces of the art deco era, the aquamarine's color is pure and vibrant while the ring's 18 karat white gold mounting is clean and simple. Its elegant lines are classic and very chic. The hand crafted, one of a kind white gold mounting has lovely Greek key and Asian sunburst detail on all four sides. An elegant single scroll sweeps up from the band to rest at either side of the mounting. Prong set at each of the stones four corners, this is a dazzling aquamarine ring.

This aquamarine is an old, perfectly calibrated, Idar Oberstien stone. The finest stone cutters in the world were from Idar, producing expertly cut and polished stones, such as this one. Until the 1960's, you could order directly from Idar Oberstien, Germany spectacular, large fine quality Brazilian Aquamarines in calibrated sizes, such as this one. This particular stone is an excellent example of the quality and cut of a large aquamarine from that era. Today, Idar stones are no longer calibrated but they continue to be of superior cut and quality. To be certain what you are looking at is, in fact, an Idar cut stone, note that the back is not Bombay- Idar cut stones do not have Bombay backs. More common are Ceylon stones being labeled as Idar.

This over-sized, nearly  carat ring is extremely glamorous and very fashionable. Hands are so visible in every day life and since we use them to express ourselves, a ring is often the first piece a jewelry others notice.
