RAREST GREEN DEPRESSION GLASS and BRASS ART DECO/ SHADE
This astounding vintage motion lamp features a frosted green Depression Glass shade, and finely crafted brass top and bottom. Inside is motion shade featuring finely hand painted tropical fish that seem to swim around inside when lamp is on.
This is the only motion lamp we know of which is made of this wonderful green glass. It is truly one of the most prized antique motion lamps ever made..
The details are incredible, from the top to bottom, inside and out. When on it makes a wonderful soft motion light! It appears to be an aquarium with fancy tailed golfish seemingly swimming by. The curvy patterned glass adds to the effect of them actually wiggling their bodies, which will enchant everyone who views it!
Suitable for the finest home or museum display. You will be envied when your friends and family see this clasic antique lamp on display. . It is a classic example of the era's art style, and motion lamp artisan creativity! It is very beautiful whether on or off..
This is the only model ever made. It is rare also in that it has it's original antique brass tone, and is absolutely complete and original. Also it is in EXTRA FINE Condition. which we have never seen before on this model. The lamp base and top are made of cast brass, and our best research finds this to be frosted Depression Era glass, maybe called vaseline glass too, but definitely created during the Great Depression aproximately 1930-1933
It is featured on page 139 of The Collectors Guide to Motion Lamps By: Sam and Ann Samuelian They state that, as with this lamp, the brass top is usually missing, as is the original bearing for the spinner. However, this lamp has all original parts in excellent condition!
the style of the lamp is Art Deco, and the lamp is lovely whether on or off.
The glass shade is in excellent condition with lovely color, and is free of chips or cracks, appears wonderful, (Finest I have ever seen!). The inner spinner shade is in excellent fine condition.
Lamp measures 10 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches across at base.
The motion shade has original bearing and spins from heat of bulb..
We have included a small clear bulb so you can enjoy immediately. We believe this lamp may have it's original cord and plug which are pictured and work well. There is a small piece of black electrical tape underneath the base, right near socket base, which was possibly added for safety by previous owner.
It will make a wonderful addition to the finest motion lamp collection.
We believe this lamp would sell this year at live oral auction for up to $4700.00 because it is so highly prized and in excellent condition.
As is our normal custom, we are starting the bidding rediculously low and placing No reserve, trusting our buyers to decide the final value of this highly desireable art-deco beauty .

On May-09-08 at 01:00:14 PDT, seller added the following information:NOTE FROM PHOTOGRAPHER: I noticed the top looks a little crooked in a couple of the pics... I should have set it straight.., I was just a little careless.. Must be the pretty green glass I was concentrating on... It is not a flaw.. Top easily sits straight .. I feel embarrassed to have shot it that way..
