1 Antique Shuttle

from the Blue Bird Silk Mill, York, Pa.

An employee Of the Blue Bird offered this tidbit of history.

The Blue Bird was the last Mill in the country to take raw silk

and weave into fabric.

Some of the silk fabric they made was used in the making of

Presidents ties and hats.

When the mill closed they threw these shuttles out.                                                           

Shuttle has 2 metal tips, approx: 16" long. Has fur inside. Seems to be in working order.
