An antique porcelain bottle cap / stopper, about 1 1/4" wide. This porcelain cap sat on top of a cork which was used to cap a back-bar / saloon bottle of whiskey.
This cap originally had a cork attached to it and it was inserted into the neck of a saloon or bar bottle. Kind of like wine bottles today, where as the cork is removed with a cork screw and discarded, then an ornate or fancy stopper is inserted in the freshly opened bottle. Back 100 years ago, a saloon owner used a fancy stopper like this one to re-cork the bottle and advertise his establishment. Most all of these that you see are from western bars and saloons and are becoming very collectible. Anyway, this old one from Goldfield Nevada is at the top of the list as there aren't alot of antique items from old Goldfield, Nevada. As a matter of fact I am not sure there still is a Goldfield Nevada? Anyway, a choice antique saloon/drinking establishment relic, check it out! Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. We put our 30+ years of experience in antiques to use in describing every item we list. Items are sold in a store front format and your ‘buy it now’ purchase is a binding contract. Please ask questions and completely read the item description before purchasing. We have found that communication is the key to successful transactions. Returns: See details at bottom of the page. Insurance: Insurance is mandatory for sales that are $100 or over, and optional for sales under $100. If you elect to forego insurance and do not receive your item within two weeks of posted ‘payment received’ date, let us know and we will confirm shipment date and, if needed, provide a copy of the postal receipt as proof of shipping. But beyond this, we have no way of tracking an uninsured item through the US Postal Service once it has been shipped, so you will have to take it up with your Post Office. We will not refund uninsured shipments nor will we engage in endless email correspondence on the matter. We package very carefully and always use the USPS for delivery. Please check our feedback comments to confirm our careful-packaging history. International Shipping: We have enjoyed shipping antique bottles all over the world and are happy to offer our bottles to international buyers. We will only put the actual sale price as the declared value on the custom forms. Our auctions state that shipping is ‘more if international’,please feel free to contact us before buying, for an international shipping estimate. We will require insurance on international purchases over $100 which means the package must be shipped Global Priority at a higher shipping cost. If international buyer requests, we can insure lesser valued items, but be prepared, this usually comes at a very high cost. Thank you! |
