Antique Pottery Large Vessel Pot Guatemala # 4
- Look at this beautiful earthenware vessel! Made out of local clay and used by a tribe of Maya descent located in today's North East Guatemala, close to the border with Belize
- The overall shape suggests local Mayan influence, but the salt glaze is purely European, introduced by spanish settlers during 16th century and on - time known as Conquista
- This very vessel dates back to the mid / late 1800's
- Simple decorations on the upper part

- Measurements: Approx. 12" high, 10.5 largest diameter
- Condition: Very good+ / Excellent overal, considering its age and that it was intended for everyday use over open fire. Shallow flakes on the top rim (see photos) - other than that - just a wonderful and sturdy piece of antique pottery
