The Apple 1 Computer is indisputably the most collectable
and valuable of all rare microcomputers. The Apple 1 was the first product
of the Apple Computer Company, and only 200 were ever produced. Many of
those were returned in exchange for credit towards the purchase of a new
Apple ][ computer when the new model was introduced. Only about fifty are
believed to survive.
Many hobbyist have tried to make working versions of this
computer; books have been written to offer ideas and advice in the quest,
and although some have succeeded, they have usually done so through
compromise, using modern parts to replace the now unobtainable IC's that
made the Apple 1 such a beautiful machine. This fully functional
recreation, created by an actual Apple1 owner, (assembled by me! : ) is a
nearly perfect reproduction, using the same vintage components as the
original.
This Apple 1 was carefully assembled and tested and runs
as described in the Apple 1 owners manual. Photos below show the computer
running the test program included in the owners manual. The computer has
been "burned in" for 72 hours to insure problem-free operation. This
auction is for the computer only. If you would like me to supply a
keyboard and/or power supply transformers, a mounting plate or even a
cabinet, I can do so for a small additional cost apart from this auction.
Feel free to inquire. The Apple 1 users manual is widely available for
download from the web, as well as software listings for many programs. I
will include a list of a few web links in the package that I found useful. Warranty:
I will repair any problem with the computer found within 30 days that is
due to my assembly work. This computer was assembled using mostly NOS
(new-old stock) parts, some of which are over 25 years old. I cannot
warranty them, but I will do everything I can to help find replacements if
needed. And now for the photos:
