1986 Macintosh 800K External Disk Drive Model# A9M0106 for Mac Plus, 512K, 512Ke, IIGS- Tested and Working!




Macintosh 800K double-sided disk drive!  Model A9M0106 made by Apple Computer, Inc.  1986.  Beige/cream color to match the original Mac Plus and 512K systems.  This drive model can use 800K double-sided disks or 400K single-sided disks, and drive will work with Macintosh Plus, and 512K, Mac 512Ke, and the Apple IIGS as stated in the manual.  Drive comes complete with the original 30 page Owner's Guide with full set up and operating instructions, in very nice condition!  It is not often you'll find one of these drives still with the original manual!  Manual has note written on cover that drive was purchased November 1987.  

This drive is in very nice and clean condition!  It is not badly yellowed  like many of these you'll see, only minor discoloration.  The photos clearly show the condition.  All four rubber feet still on bottom.  This is from non-smoking home and has been stored properly. 

Drive was fully tested on a Mac 512K and working great!  Drive light works fine, disks boot right up.  Operation is different depending if you have this connected to a Mac or an Apple IIGS.  Eject button is not for Mac, and daisy chain port on back is also for IIGS only.  To Eject with Mac you use the File menu as usual.  These early Apple 800K Apple disk drives are becoming increasingly rare.  Don't buy an old dirty and untested drive that won't even read disks reliably or insert/eject disks properly, if at all.  This drive is tested and ready to use, and comes with the original instructions! 

An external drive is perfect for making backup copies of your original disks, and to have in case your Mac's internal drive should ever fail.  Also, some programs that came on multiple disks require two drives to use, or require a double-sided drive. Photos are of the exact drive you will receive.
