Testing for Free Bromine will let you know how much sanitizer is working, whether you are not adding enough or adding too much.

The PH is the comparison of Acids and Alkalinity Salts in your water. Too high of PH will result in equipment damage, as scale will result, also too high of PH will result in inefficient sanitizers. Too low is very acidic, as your eyes burn and your equipment is destroyed in the Acidic enviroment.

The Total Alkalinity is the amount of Alkalinity Salts in your water and too low or too high will result in cloudy water, the biggest concern on Total Alkalinity is improper balance will result in PH bounce and lack of control of the PH.

The Calcium Hardness determines how much Calcium is in the water. Very important to maintain a 200 ppm level in pools and spas. Spas can be cloudy with too soft of water. Pools can deteriote as water has a demand for calcium. if the water does not have a high enough calcium level, the water will look for it in the pool walls and equipment.
