This book taught me how to do things with architectural embellishments and sheet
metal
that I thought were MAYBE possible only with computer controlled hyper expensive
CAD / CAM
gadgets ... and how to not only do them, but do them fast, cost effectively and
efficiently.
WOW
Practical indeed.
With this beauty and a little common sense, you can see how to properly use
architectural sheet or
cast metal in beautiful integrated designs and how to develop, manage, and
integrated their
design, development, manufacturing, and installation into buildings.
WOW
This book tells you everything you need to know from the tricks of the trade to
the sublimely simple and useful, like how to size and build appropriate
workbenches for this
work.
They really don't leave much to chance, telling you at each design or shop stage
exactly how
to think about the problem, what to do, and how to do it, and with what tools.
Some of the techniques might be updated ... substituting CAD programs and large
plotters for
huge paper sheets and massive counterweighted drawing tables ... but the rest is
pretty much
unchanged by time.
OK, so if you are into architecture, ornamental work, architectural sheet metal
or decoration,
or ornamentation, of structures, this is your book.
I gave each of my trades relatives and both my PE Structural cousin and my
architect friend copies
of this and got in all cases good reviews of it, with the architect asking for 2
more copies
to give to his contractors ...
Incredibly useful information.
No, it is not filled with just pretty pictures, it does have nice illustrations,
but it is
eminently practical in the how to, both from the tradesman manufacturing
standpoint and
from the installation / architectural consideration standpoint.
Try a copy, it will leave you amazed at what can be done with simple tools,
skill and imagination.

Customer Review:
I have been spec'ing architectural cornices and ornaments of structural foams
and other
modern castable materials for reasons of speed of installation, ease of
handling, and
ready availability ... and to a large extent because I had no expert source of
advice on
the manufacturing and installation of complex sheet metal cornices and shapes
for ornament.
Now that I have this CD, I have successfully spec'd two small commercial
buildings with sheet
metal at less cost than then the customer would have spent on the structural
shapes.
More durability for less cost has made my client rather pleased with me!
