Art Deco Ceiling Fixture/Chandelier 4 Deco Shades 1920s

The listing is for a Pan shaped Ceiling Fixture made in the 1920s and fitted with 4 hanging acid etched ART DECO Glass Shades.

The Fixture is all original with no replacement parts. The wiring is intact but after 90 years in would be prudent to rewire it.

The shades are Acid etched wit a clear Art Deco design, they are 5 1/2" high and 3 5/8" in diameter.

The Pan portion of the fixture is 10" in diameter and including the arms for hanging the lights it is 18" across.The fisture withot chain is 16: high and has 16" of Original Chain. The Bell shaped dome to attach and hide the wiring is original and measures 6" and includes the Cast Iron hardare to attach it to the ceiling.

Although electric lighting was available in the late 19th Century it was not until the first quarter of the 20th Century that it reached the ordinary middle class home.

The first "ceiling fixtures" were a socket to hold a bulb with no shade.

Then a cast fixture which held 3 or 4 bulbs was attached directly to the ceiling,Bulbs still did not have shades.

Eventuall the Pan shaped fixture was lowered from the high ceiling with a chain and shades were added.

Many of these fixture which are brass have been refinished to eliminate times blemishes,

The fixture I am listing is in original unrefinished condition, Its blemishes are acceptable in my estimation.
