Art Deco Perfume Bottle by Verreries Brosse - Perfect

I bought this as Lalique, but I haven't found any reference to it anywhere as that or anything else and listed it as quite probably Baccarat. Then a kind and knowledgeable Ebayer wrote to me from the US informing me that the bottle is from the French glass maker Verreries Brosse who started making luxury glass in the '30s and restarted making for Cheramy in the late '70s. I did some very quick research to revise the listing and found they have remained luxury glass makers and are still going strong supplying the perfume industry as well as top end cosmetics and drinks companies. Their enviable client list includes: Chanel, Hermes, Jean Patou, Van Cleef & Arpels, Gucci, Rochas, Ralph Lauren and Armani. This one, for Cheramy, is undoubtedly an outstanding example of art deco. The octagonal bottle features a matching octagonal shape cut into its centre that is moulded with a wonderfully stylised frosted glass nude female figure. There is identical moulding on both the front and back of the bottle. I hope you can see on the pictures that it is printed with Parfum de Toilette MAIDORI by Cheramy II Paris. Its base is moulded with no. 14. The 50 ml bottle measures about 3.3 ins (8.5 cms) high and 2.5 ins (5.8 cms) wide. The stopper is removable and fortunately screws on so tightly that over the years relatively little of the contents have evaporated. That said, although I am sure it is unwearable, it smells good anyway. I tried really hard to illustrate the central figure and also to show that it is on both sides, but I don't think I did the quality of the design justice.
