A brief history of the Arts Deco movement 
At its height during the 1920s-1940s, the Art Deco movement celebrated the Machine Age through its use of materials, symmetry, and repetition. With its bold use of stepped forms, sweeping curves, chevron patterns and the sunburst motif, Art Deco design looked toward the future, rather than borrowing elements from the past. Taking inspiration from industrial forms such as cars and trains, the most notable artists of the time, such as Hector Guimard, Eugene Grasset, Raoul Lachenal, Paul Follot, Demetre H. Chiparus, Maurice Dufrene, and Emile Decour, produced designs & sculpture featuring ultra-modern, streamlined, aerodynamic forms.
