  Western Electric Metal Housing 302 Telephone

Originally designed in the 1930’s by industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss. These classic rotary dial phones were the workhorse of the Bell System from the late 1930's up until the 1960's.

The Western Electric 302 desk telephone was introduced in 1937. The first versions had a die-cast zinc housing and during the War changed to a thermo-plastic housing. The F-1 handsets were first made of bakelite and later changed to the much lighter thermo-plastic. The 302 was the first Bell System subscriber desk phone to contain the ringer and induction coil in the base of the phone. Previous desk models required a separate subscriber set or bell box (ringer).

This desirable 302 H-1 metal housing phone has been disassembled & truly meticulously restored.  Refinished with old-fashioned black lacquer paint and mint. Works and rings like it did over 71 years ago. You can dial out and receive calls with this phone.

 The nickel fingerstop is polished and looks beautiful.  The fingerwheel & dial center ring are mint.

 Equipped with a beautiful porcelain Operator dial plate. 

 The #5 dial has been renovated and pulses correctly at 10 pulses per second (bell system standard).

This Art Deco phone is equipped with brass bells.  One bell gong has a higher tone than the other one to produce a unique bell sound that only an old telephone can give you.  It's nice to hear a real bell ring in our world of harsh electronic noises.

No chips, cracks or scratches, haze or roughness on this 302 phone. 

 It has a beautiful gloss.  This phone has been expertly restored.
