Many tile depict the natural beauty found in the prairies, marshes and woodlands at this rural Wisconsin farm.
About this tile: This tile measures approximately 3 x 7 inches (approximately 3/8 inch thick) and features a detailed hand carved and hand painted Thistle. This tile was hand glazed with the studio’s organic matte green glaze called “Spring Green. Back side contains the potter's mark and a “slot” that was designed into the tile that can be utilized for immediate wall hanging.
About the glaze: You will not find a more unbelievable arts and crafts glaze! The organic matte crystalline glazes are hand mixed at our studio. These are thick, rich, flowing glazes similar to glazes used by Grueby and other “Arts and Crafts” potters. As glaze runs, it pools and sometimes forms areas that are glossy, very interesting effect! Most tile have two (sometimes three) glaze colors hand painted on the tile. This labor intensive process and attention to detail create tile that are very unique.
