This is a painting which I did in a series related to the Woodland Indian tribes during the 18th century. The original painting is available, however being offered is the limited edition print #1 / 200.The print is signed and numbered for those interested in collecting artwork. The print is on acid free paper using archival ink. It is on 13 x 19 paper and is shipped in a mailing tube so it is well protected. I greatly enjoy painting historic themes and have had many of my paintings and drawings featured on thecovers of MUZZLE BLASTS magazine. Please email me any questions on this print....or any interest in the original work.
This small painting shows the trappings of war on this young Seneca brave. His hair has been plucked to leave the scalp lock, a symbol of bravery. His body has been tattooed in a series of geometric patterns, which by the end of the colonial period was going out of style. The earrings are trade silver a popular item traded to the woodland tribes during the 18th century. He carries a flintlock musket and a shoulder bag, while slung over his back is a brass tack decorated "gun stock" style war club.. The Seneca were a feared foe as far west as the Great Lakes.
