SIGNS OF THE ENEMY

LIMITED EDITION PRINT

#1 / 200 SIGNED AND NUMBERED COLLECTABLE ARTWORK

This is a painting which I did in a series related to the Woodland Indian tribes during the 18th century. The original painting is available, however being offered is the limited edition print #1 / 200.The print is signed and numbered for those interested in collecting artwork. The print is on acid free paper using archival ink. It is on 13 x 19 paper and is shipped in a mailing tube so it is well protected. I greatly enjoy painting historic themes and have had many of my paintings and drawings featured on thecovers of MUZZLE BLASTS magazine. Please email me any questions on this print....or any interest in the original work.

Sign of the Enemy:

The tribes of the Great Lakes, especially the Huron, were allies of the French. They appreciated the French way of life and how they treated and respected them. The French related to the natives, married into their culture, traded with them fairly, and did not develop large settlements like the British. For these reasons many tribes sided with the French and fought to rid the New World of the British presants. In this painting we see two warriors looking for signs of a fleeing enemy. One wears a captured British officer’s coat. Both are adorned in trade beads and silvers. Their warpaint tells us the serious nature of the business at hand. Look closely at the rocks and you might see a sign of the enemy.
